I Wish There was Something to Write About

There just isn’t that much going on in my world.  Flight time is down, mostly because the way flights are handled changed.  The bad guys are pretty quiet in this part of the country lately, and we are starting to look at the end game.

Flying over the DesertHowever, in the vein of trying to keep the handful of readers I have informed I’ll offer the following:

  • I have noticed a plethora of non-combat patched senior NCOs and officers running about the FOB lately. How does that happen 8 years into a two war campaign?
  • Garrisonitis is getting worse as OPTEMPO drops.  Since there is less fighting and people are staying “home” more, there are more “Good Idea Fairies” running around the FOB making rules that don’t really make sense.
  • Life is the same in Iraq as it is in Afghanistan. Although we have better living conditions.
  • I am tired of running on Treadmills.  Hopefully the dust and wind will start to die down as summer ends.
  • On that note, 117 – 122F at 1800 is still way too hot!  The temp gauges are still pegging out by 0900 – 1000.
  • I have to wonder if its really a good thing that we have to schedule training flights now to stay current.

Ok, I have run out of blurbs.

    Hey,

I am Jason… I hit you up last on your blog back in 2005.  I asked you what to pack for the Gulf and you said rain gear.  Highly Amusing since I rode out both Katrina and Rita in New Orleans.  I am dividing my time now between huntsville and california.  If you ever want a civilian job look me up wink
