@Kickbee

Ok, my wife is pregnant and due tomorrow with our second little girl.  Hopefully, she will be on time because of my deployment crunch.  I am really looking forward to her arrival too.

Anyway, I am excited she is coming, but not this excited.  Besides, if I made my wife wear that, she would have killed me already.

Us Poor Bastards

Well, I guess we know washed up singer Billy Joel’s stance on the troops now.  As far as I am concerned he can stay in Australia.  Why is it these jokers think they can leave the country on tours, say whatever they want and there won’t be any reprecussions?  Remember the Dixie Chicks?  I didn’t think so.

Joel, with the support of The Sunday Telegraph and Sony BMG, is giving away his latest song, Christmas In Fallujah – a tribute to US and Australian soldiers serving in the Middle East.

He is not charging for the song because he simply wants people to hear it and think of the soldiers – “those poor bastards’’ – stuck in Iraq for Christmas.

[...]

“We wanted to do something to commemorate our tour of Australia,’’ he said. “There are no other recordings of this song, with me singing, available.

“We thought it would bea nice way to say thank you on our last night in Oz: Merry Christmas!’’ – The Daily Telegraph

Anyway, lyrics after the jump.

To Jailbreak or Not

imageFor those who don’t know, the iPhone is locked up tight by Apple and the only things you can do with it are add apps available in the App Store.  You can read a few of my complaints with the platform here.  Fortunately for those of us that aren’t happy with draconian rules and standards, not mention Apple’s “its my phone but I’ll let you use it” mentality there is a way around this.  Its called Jailbreaking.  Jailbreaking is basically a software hack that opens up the iPhone and allows non-App Store apps to be placed onto the phone.  Its really simple to do, especially if you aren’t trying to swap carriers, and adds a lot of functions to the phone that aren’t normally available through the App Store for one reason or another (Using undocumented APIs for example).
