Sunday Brunch

IVThis is the result of 10 hours at the ER. I got a really nasty case of food poisoning from a burger at Fudrucker’s.  I was nauseous and vomiting for hours and I was so dehydrated my hips and knees were in excruciating pain.  What did I get for my trouble?  Two IV bags, some phenergan, 6 pounds lost, and this little nasty from the IV.  It took me two days to recover from the “incident” enough to get out of the house.  What a wonderful thing to happen on leave.

Awarded CMB

Just a note to all my regular readers:
I checked my Army Records and I have been awarded the Combat Medical Badge. cool smile

Leave

It’s going by way too fast.  I have already been here more than a week!  Its been really nice to see my family and spend time desperately needed with them.  My daughter is growing up so fast!  When I left last fall, she was speaking words, now she speaks sentences and knows things I would have never guessed a two year old would know.  We have spent a lot of time just hanging out.  I went and adopted a beautiful blue heeler/beagle mix puppy from a local no-kill shelter.  She is so sweet and I swear has already decided my daughter’s safety is her job.  If I could just get her completely housebroken!

Its going to be hard leaving here in a few days and returning to Iraq.  We aren’t even halfway thanks to the extensions, and I’ll be missing yet another Anniversary, Christmas, and set of Birthdays.  I just hope things end up for the better in the long run.

New Site

Ok, if you are seeing this then you are seeing the newly revised and relaunched “Far From Perfect.”  You will need to update your links to reflect the new url www.ffpblog.com as the old URL is only a pointer now.

Home Again

I am home!  My leave has finally come around.  I made it home yesterday after a whirlwind of activity.  I have to admit the DoD has gotten the leave procedures down and it goes rather quickly, although its still an all day affair.  Processing, customs, customs again, more customs, travel iterneraries, and bus trip to the international airport.  Finally, an 18 hour flight back to the U.S. including a layover in Scottland.  I landed around 8am yesterday and went through customs yet again, then on to another plane for the final leg home.

Its nice to be home and get to spend time with my family.  I also got a hot shower, a good meal, and sleep in a decent bed.  Don’t know whats on the schedule for the next two weeks, but blogging is not that high a priority.  I might move the site, might not.  I am planning on spending all the time I can with the people that mean the most to me.  I only wish it was more than two weeks.  Its been so hard for all of us the last few years and its time we caught a break.

Anyway, its off to do the things that need doing.

Later.
