More Iraq
Ok, I am sure everyone who has seen the news or read a paper knows, all of us lucky soldiers have been extended to 15 month deployments instead of 12 months! Thank You democrats! So you decide to cut our funding and instead of coming home early, we have to stay longer with shorter periods at home with our families. With friends like you, I sure don’t need enemies!
On top of all this, the IRS decided to wax my family for $4000 we don’t have! Here I am serving our nation and the freaking IRS wants to take what little I do make. Thanks! There was a man (I don’t know if he was a congressman or not) that was trying to present a bill wherefore all Service members would not have to pay income tax as long as they served. Maybe then I wouldn’t have to struggle just to have my funds taken by the government I serve.
Anyway, enough ranting for now. This place is getting to me lately.

What did the democrats do that had anything to do with you being extended? They are trying to get your ass out of there for good! You best support them or you may be stuck there for good.
Lets see.. They cut the budget. Instead of bringing anyone home, they forced the government into 15 month rotations. Had they not tried cutting the money for those us us actually fighting, we wouldn’t have had 15 month rotations. As a corollary, it means they can continue to extend us 3 months more, which means 18 months away from my family.
Not to mention and Budget cuts means more lives lost, but I guess that doesn’t matter when its all about political wrangling.
Woah,Woah,Woah. The democrats are trying to cut the the Iraq war in time, we are not trying to extend it, that’s what the Republicans are trying to do. Yes, I’ll admit, we (Democrats) did cut the budgets but we are not the ones that made the normally 12 month deployments to 15. Like I said, we are trying to end this war as fast as possible. Bush and his campain are trying to extend the length of the war before the Democrats have a chance to take office and end the war. So, please keep those innacurate thoughts to yourself or research the political part of the war before you just blame the bad parts of the war on the Dem’s just because you can’t admit that our “honorable” George W. Bush (as we are pretty much forced to say in the military) made a mistake for the first time(lol). I hate to say that I don’t mean to take a shot at you and that is what this sounds like but when you sarcastically thanked the Democrats for the unliked extension of active service terms I was offeneded mainly because that has almost nothing to do with us Democrats.

I see it how I see it. And I do my research.
Anyway as I see it:
1) 12 Month Rotations for the Army.
2) Dems get pissed because of arbitrary pull out date.
3) Dems decide to cut funding and manage to do it.
4) Within days, administration extends rotations to 15 months.
And remember I am on the receiving end and CURRENTLY carrying a rifle, getting MYSELF blown up, and MISSING OUT on more than half of my daughters life!
hmmmm…
Now before you go “taking a shot”, if you had read the old site at all, you would realize I don’t really support Bush politically any more the Dems, and I don’t think we needed to go into Iraq to start with to accomplish our goals. I do believe that since we are in Iraq, the only way out of Iraq is to get the job done right. We can’t do that without money. Its all political wrangling by both sides at the cost of the troops.
To prove my point:
The Dems backed off on the whole pull out date thing TODAY! The President’s speech this morning said so, or did you not watch the news?
Not to mention cutting the budget just screams “Support for the Troops.”

I see your point. In fact I agree with it,too. The only difference for me is that I think it means something different.

I understand that they did it because of what us Dems did but it still was them that made the call. They could have found other solutions. They chose to extend the service time to 15 months as their solution. I hate to argue but I am offended as a Democrat that all the blame is put on us. Thank you,

Thanks for doing what you do and for keeping the bombing’s in the desert! Sucks on the deployment extension but congrats on the Combat Medic. Just let you and your unit know that American families appreciate them for keeping us safe and comfortable at night and we are all thinking of them and their families always but especially on Memorial Day.
