Hello Again..
Little update for all my friends and anyone who cares to read this pitiful excuse for a blog.
We have, in fact, reached our final FOB. We may be hear the entire year, we may not. Who knows… government works and all. We are currently relieving the unit here and we officially start our patrolling and such soon. I have managed to buy a few cheap DVDs and unsuccessfully look for a 500 watt transformer and a little lamp that runs on 240v. Its odd the things you can find here though. We did manage to rate some “chews” to live in (Containerized Housing Unit – CHU). Its kinda like living in a railroad boxcar with a door, but I do have my own space at least. I have an actual address now too! So send all those care packages I have heard so much about! 
Its not as bad as the news leads you to believe (at least not here). We don’t get mortar and rocket attacks everyday and its not all guns, bullets, and death either. Mostly, its been like every other government project – hurry up and wait. That doesn’t mean we drop our guard though. You never know when something might happen. After all if there was no combat, we wouldn’t be here defending the Iraqis and fighting and insurgency would we?
The news on the FOB is way behind. The latest Stars and Stripes I read was from last weekend, but there is AFN and the internet (duh!).
So thats it. I have been firing some foreign weapons which is always fun. I wish I had facilities to upload a few pictures for everyone to see, but when the net is 512K split between umpteen computers and they only give you 30 minutes to use it, well there just isn’t time. So until the next update…
